ModuSpec awarded HPHT and MPD assurance project in Norway

27-03-2024

ModuSpec has been awarded a contract to support the assurance process of a CJ70 design jack up drilling rig in Norway

The rig is to undertake a series of high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) wells on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). The rig will deploy Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) equipment during the drilling campaign which is due to commence in H2 2024.

ModuSpec will provide independent assurance of the blow out preventer (BOP) and associated well control equipment readiness for HPHT operations and verify the integration of the MPD equipment, including commissioning and compliance to the client’s operational requirements.

Starting in March, ModuSpec’s scope will involve the mobilisation of a multi-discipline team to verify the equipment complies with the Norwegian operator’s well control manual and any modifications are tested to ensure the equipment will perform as intended.

Mark Watson, Operations Director for ModuSpec, said: “The Operator sought our specialist technical assurance and intake expertise considering that these key flagship wells will be drilled via MPD. We are delighted to continue supporting our client in Norway, adding to the extensive history of ModuSpec delivering specialist rig intake services in the region.”
